I had always enjoyed being active and doing sports and during the summer of my last year of university I discovered climbing. It was new and exciting, and something I could continuously challenge myself. When I first started, I saw lead climbing and told myself this was never something I would do.I disliked the sensation of falling and with lead there is always a chance of falling. However, 3 months later I found myself taking the lead course and started leading. I wanted to share my love of climbing to others and started working in a climbing gym. Many years later here I am still working in a climbing gym wanting people to enjoy climbing as I did.
The first time I ever climbed I knew I was hooked! I was (and still am) a bit frightened of heights and felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment after making it to the top of my first big wall. When I moved back to Ontario, I joined my local climbing gym and never looked back. I learned how to sport climb, challenge my body and mind and have since had opportunities to travel and learn about climbing from so many different mentors. It is my dream to pass along the joy of climbing to others while fostering a fun, effective and safe learning environment. I can confidently say that climbing has changed my life and I wouldn’t be who I am today without the sport and everyone I’ve met along the way.
