Hub Climbing Markham is an indoor rock-climbing gym designed for climbers at every level, from kids who have never climbed before, to expert climbers. Hub Climbing Markham offers a 20,000 square foot indoor climb gym with boulder archways, a 23-foot-tall free bouldering challenge (over a foam pit) and 22 roped climbing routes for kids and adults. We offer autobelays, bouldering, and dragon climbs. Our indoor climbing gyms are in Markham and Mississauga.

Our Markham location is now seeking an experienced Supervisor to join our team on a full-time (30-40 hours per week), permanent basis. This position will own the following responsibilities:

Job Description/Duties:

• Plan, develop, and organize policies and events for the climbing gym;

• Supervise, train, and assess new and senior staff;

• Develop interesting climbing routes of varying difficulty on a regular basis, always ensuring that our strict safety protocols are followed;

• Coordinate special event planning for events hosted by the climbing gym whether initiated by a client or as a promotional event organized by the gym;

• Set the routes in our gym collaboratively with our existing team;

• Test climbing routes at a high level and provide accurate feedback for the setting team;

• Engage with our clients to ensure full satisfaction of their climbing experience;

• Audit and resolve any facility issues that may arise;

• Be willing to collaborate and assist with our location in Mississauga on an as-needed basis for assisting with route setting and other urgent needs, and a weekly basis for strategic planning calls;

• Coordinate with facility Directors and Managers for any issues that require their attention.

Your experience and background:

• You have at least 3 years experience with Rock Gym Pro (RGP) software, including knowledge of report generating through the tool;

• You have at least 2 years of management, supervisor, and route setting experience, including a previous apprenticeship at a climbing gym;

• You have at least 1 year of coaching experience with adults and teenagers;

• You can comfortably climb at a high level, and with a high degree of skill; and

• You can comfortably lift 60-80 lbs, as required to plan and set routes and engage in tasks related to facility management.

In addition to the above, Cantonese language skills would be helpful to assist with our clientele, and in particular the parents of our minor gym attendees.
