Welcome to Hub Climbing. We are committed to maintaining a respectful and welcoming environment for everyone. By entering the facility, you agree to the following rules. Violations may result in suspension or permanent ban. No membership refunds will be provided in such cases.
Note: This document outlines general facility rules and policies. It does not override the terms in your waiver, orientation materials, belay or climbing tests, or membership agreement, which may include additional requirements.
1. General Conduct
- Treat staff, members, and guests with courtesy and respect.
- Aggressive, hostile, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
- Unauthorized solicitation of services or products is not allowed.
2. Safety & Facility Access
- All participants must check in and have a valid waiver with accurate information.
- Each person entering these areas for the purpose of participating in any program must be a registered participant or an authorized guest or member.
- Participants are legally responsible for ensuring their documentation and information is completed correctly and by the correct party or individual. Hub Climbing is not liable for fraudulent submissions.
- For participants under 18 years of age, waiver forms must be completed by a parent or legal guardian only.
- A legal guardian must bring proof of guardianship.
- Minor waivers completed by anyone other than the parent or guardian is not considered valid.
- It is trespassing to enter the facilities without a valid waiver.
- Entering, or helping others enter, without proper check-in is a serious violation and may result in immediate ban and financial penalties.
- Only authorized individuals may teach or coach on site. Written approval is required from Hub management.
- Anyone under 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times as per our stated ratios for each program.
- Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring minors follow all rules.
- Hub Climbing is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please use the provided lockers and secure your belongings at all times. Locks are available for purchase at front desk if needed.
- IN CASE OF PERSONAL INJURY OR ACCIDENT, CONTACT A STAFF PERSON IMMEDIATELY. For life threatening circumstances contact 911 directly.
3. Climbing Equipment & Behavior
- Any personally owned harnesses or climbing gear (i.e. not rented from Hub Climbing) must be CE and/or UIAA approved, unmodified, and in good condition.
- Rental Equipment: Cannot be taken outside of the facility. (A fee of the replacement item plus a restocking fee will be levied on your account if you take rental equipment outside the facility).
- You are responsible for inspecting all your personal (non-Hub) climbing gear before each use. Hub Climbing staff do not conduct safety checks on your personal gear but may prohibit the use of equipment they deem unsafe.
- Speed lowering your belayer is not permitted.
- Do not belay climbers significantly heavier than yourself (more than 125% of your body weight) unless using a Hub-approved assisted braking device (Edelrid Ohm).
- Communicate your climbing intentions to others to prevent accidents and ensure fair route use. Do not monopolize routes.
- Only Hub Climbing instructors may teach at our facility. Those caught teaching may have their privileges revoked.
4. Orientation Requirements
- All climbers 12 years and older, and adult supervisors of climbers must complete a Facility Introduction. (Not required for Adventure Hub)
- Bouldering: All boulderers must complete a Hub Bouldering Orientation and falls test. Do not exceed posted height limits, which vary by age and certification level. Experienced adults (18yrs old and older), may opt out of the bouldering orientation.
- Auto-Belay: Users must complete an Auto-Belay Orientation, display a valid auto-belay tag, and follow Loop-Lock-Line procedures before every ascent. Only climbers 16yrs and older can clip themselves in and out. Climbers 18 and older, or adult supervisors can clip in and out minors.
- Top Rope: Climbers must complete the required top rope certification and display a valid belay tag while belaying. Must be 16 yrs and older to be tested.
- Lead Climbing: Climbers and belayers must complete the required lead certification and display valid lead tags while lead climbing or belaying. 12-15 yrs may lead climb only (no lead belay). Must be 16 yrs or older to lead belay.
5. Attire & Hygiene
- Shirts must be worn at all times.
- Long hair must be tied back when belaying.
- Only necessary items (e.g., chalk bag, belay device) may be worn on a harness. Phones, bottles, or packs may fall and injure others. Please also keep them off the mats.
- No barefoot or just socks. Always wear some footwear like flip flops, or shoes when not climbing.
- Flip-flops are available at reception.
- No food or drink past reception, except water (no glass bottles).
- No rings or jewelry that may get caught or provide hazards
- We are not a nut free facility. Do not send your child to the facility with snacks containing nut products.
- ALL food and drink must be consumed in the reception area (except for water) and away from the climbing areas.
6. Photo & Video Policy
- Do not take photos or videos of others without their express consent.
- Commercial filming requires written approval from management.
7. Membership & Payments
- All passes and memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- To cancel a membership, you must follow the cancellation process provided at the time of sign-up. Requests submitted outside of this process may not be received or processed.
- Use of counterfeit or stolen cards, or charging back valid transactions, may result in permanent termination and additional penalties.
- Complimentary dual-location access ends December 31, 2026. Paid dual-access remains valid.
- Your individual membership agreement may include terms beyond those listed here.
8. Community Standards
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for behavior that compromises the safety, integrity, or inclusivity of our community.
- Disrespectful or harmful public comments about the gym, staff, or members, whether online or in person, may result in revoked access without refund.
9. Pets, Emotional Support Animals (ESAs), and Service Animals
- Trained service animals assisting individuals with disabilities are permitted throughout our facility, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Proof may be required (When not obvious). Management may ask the following:
- Is the animal required due to a disability?
- What task or function is it trained to perform?
- A letter from a regulated Ontario health professional is acceptable as documentation.
- Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy animals are not recognized as service animals under Ontario law and are not allowed in the gym without a formal accommodation request.
- Individuals seeking to bring an ESA due to a disability must submit a request in advance with proper documentation. Requests will be considered case by case and may be declined if they pose undue hardship (e.g., safety risks, hygiene issues, or operational challenges).
- All service animals must remain under control, on a leash/harness, and well-behaved at all times. Handlers are responsible for cleaning up after their animals.
- Pets, ESAs, or non-service animals are not allowed anywhere in the facility, including waiting areas or viewing spaces.
10. Policy Enforcement
- Rules may be updated at the discretion of Hub Climbing management.
- It is your responsibility to stay informed of policy updates posted on this page. If in doubt, ask a manager in writing.
- If you have health concerns, we recommend consulting a medical professional before using the facility.
11. Facility Closures and Program Cancellations
- Facility closures may be required due to power outages or other unforeseen events. These may occur without notice. While we aim to reopen as quickly as possible, delays may occur.
- Classes and facility access may also be cancelled during holidays, special events, or other unplanned circumstances. Hub reserves the right to cancel programs or combine classes if enrollment is low.
